Taken from some image I found on the Internet. For some reason, I couldn’t tell if it was done or not, I guess you be the judge. Again, done all in Photoshop.

Saturday, January 9th, 2010I picked up a Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet this past week – and this thing rocks. For only $199 bucks, you can the Wacom professional quality pressure sensitive tablet, the same as the professional level Intuois series for half the price at this size. The pen area measures 8.5 x 5.4 inches with plenty of room to move around.
I got to sit down and sketch – this started as doodle and turned into a character illustration of someone who is a great inspiration to me. I tried to make her eyes the focal point, since she has these great bright eyes that light up. I feel much of personality comes from here. She’s always inspiring and uplifting to be around. The resemblance isn’t supposed to be 100% accurate (I drew her from memory) but as long as that sense of someone warm comes through the illustration, it’s what I was aiming for.
Woman: Never Got Her Name
Friday, July 24th, 2009From today’s open sketch, a woman whom I’ve sketched before but with not the greatest success. This time around I am quite pleased with how she resulted. I especially like her face, how its tilted down. The portion I’m most unhappy about is her legs, which seem shortened or large compared to the rest of her, which is probably why they remain unfinished.
Freya – May 8, 2009
Friday, May 8th, 2009Today’s model was Freya, a red headed young woman. I got to class late, so pickings for an angle was pretty small. I was able to get profile shot which was nice for a change actually.
My styles tend to change with the model, Freya seemed to have a comic book or fantasy quality about her. So I ended up drawing her only with black and white – no shades of gray. It was a bit experimental but a good exercise in working with those shadow shapes.
The hair was the toughest and it didn’t come out quite like I wanted but decent enough. I tool roughly eight images over the 5 hours it took to complete this piece.

Overall I was pretty happy with it, I may transfer this to another sheet and ink it for a better black quality. Next time I think I’ll return to a more realistic approach.
Quick Test with Grayscale
Sunday, April 26th, 2009Carla – April 17, 2009
Monday, April 20th, 2009Went to the local art center in New Canaan, where every Friday you can go sketch a live model. This week was Carla. I was only able to get in 3-4 hours worth of sketch time since I had other things to do. I went for a more angular style, capturing more of the planes than total realism. Toward the end of the sketch I started flashing her out, rounding out some of the features but you can still see the planes.
Sketch was done with 2B and 4B carbon pencils on Canson Layout.
