A recent project I worked on is an online shop for a bra distributor in North Caolina, selling The Coobie Bra, which are apparently the “most comfortable bra”.

The challenge brought to me was making the site a more compelling place to shop and learn about why the Coobie Bra is so comfortable. The original site was quite bland, and the shopping experience leaved much to desire. The site was also built with individual HTML files making updates a chore.

I built the new site with Textpattern, a brilliant and easy to use CMS. The template was custom designed for the site, so all the coding was by hand as well. I chose FoxyCart as my shopping cart, so designing the shop pages were easy and integrated perfectly into the rest of the site.

I added lots of interactivity to the site to give it a modern feel. A drop down form for users who want to get on the mailing list and custom image gallery that changes when the user hovers over each image. I’ve also implemented some social networks and sharing options to get the word about the Coobie Bra. I also wrote a custom script to fetch YouTube videos featuring coobie bras, but are currently turned off.

The site will extend into other products and areas, and has helped tremendously with sales, and wholesale contacts.

Plus you can add your own inventions like the starry disco-ish background. She just needs a dance partner.

I picked up a Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet this past week – and this thing rocks. For only $199 bucks, you can the Wacom professional quality pressure sensitive tablet, the same as the professional level Intuois series for half the price at this size. The pen area measures 8.5 x 5.4 inches with plenty of room to move around.

I got to sit down and sketch – this started as doodle and turned into a character illustration of someone who is a great inspiration to me. I tried to make her eyes the focal point, since she has these great bright eyes that light up. I feel much of personality comes from here. She’s always inspiring and uplifting to be around. The resemblance isn’t supposed to be 100% accurate (I drew her from memory) but as long as that sense of someone warm comes through the illustration, it’s what I was aiming for.

An oddity I came across today in FireFox, is when I apply height to the input selector, it also defines and shows hidden elements.

Those white stripes are because of the following rule:
#paypal_form input {
	margin-left: 200px;
	display: block;
	height: 15px;
	margin-bottom: 10px;
}
There may be some other Cascading rules, but I couldn’t find it, and I’ve never seen it before.
